Bishop Ace Hardware Supply

I went in and spent $50 above the 5.00 birthday coupon Ace sent me. One item was 14.99 and it didn't work at all. I went straight back to the store right after buying it and they didn't refund the 14.99, they only refunded 13.72 because I used the coupon for the other $35. The required amount on the coupon is for spending five dollars or more which I clearly did and yet they couldn't give me a full refund on an amount that still left me $35 over the required amount for the coupon. I've been doing business with this store for 21 years. Never again. It's the principle of the thing. If I could give them a zero rating I would.

How bizarre, how bizarre. So I run in to get some packing tape & bubble wrap. I'm moving a relative back home. Easy peasy.

Then comes the bizzarro world of the register.

Just SO odd.

Each person seemed to have never conducted a payment transaction before & the cashier seemed a bit helpless in instructing them. 3 people in front of me & it is now 15min of waiting. My new mantra "DO NOT CHUCK a ROLL of PACKING TAPE to TAKE SOMEONE OUT"

Updated mantra "It is wrong to go all Dexter with your bubble wrap on someone who perhaps needs Natural Selection" Calm, warm thoughts... listen & be the elevator music.

I kept having to remind myself I'm not at home & these people will get upset if I jump in to help. Different mindset & different culture. Ya ain't in Chicago anymore Dorothy.... Ohhhmmmm.

Was accidentally charged $108.60 rather than $10.86. Froze my entire $100 balance for the ENTIRE WEEKEND. Manager tried best to make it right by buying me the $10 part, but this still left me dead-broke the rest of the weekend. No groceries, no drinks, no smokes.... broke.... been refreshing my account; still shows my entire $96 is "preauthorized to Ace Hardware" tried calling corporate, HA!!! Some teenager that couldn't give the first crap, ready to direct you back to the store... guess who already knows how to Google.
People are nice, but the systems are archaic and there is no way I'm trusting my debit card in their system EVER again.

Some of the employees are just a little too funny towards people of color for me...

the young brunette man at the counter telling me to pay at the check out when I'm done and the short lady with the short haircut and glasses acting like my discrepancy in the sale price was me trying to rip off the store somehow, HAHAHAH. Some pathetic shit! I'd recommend places like Green View here in Springfield for things like pottery/gardening, etc.

The staff, including Brooklyn and manager Chris, went far out of their way to help me find the right equipment to adjust a piece of my car. We tried a few pieces which didn't work, which they brought back and exchanged for the right pieces that did work on my car. My immense gratitude for their help and especially Brooklyn's increased time and energy to find and try the right tools; she walked so far in her air cast / splint on my behalf! I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this store to find help.

I called the local office with a price question. The item I wanted to buy was $10 over MSRP. Both people I talk to were extremely snippy and unpleasant to speak with. It makes me want to do my future shopping somewhere else!

This hardware store not only has a wide variety of products but also the friendliest and most helpful employees of ANY store of any type business I have ever gone to!

I've been going to this location for a little over seven years now. The staff has always been knowledgeable and helpful and the manager has always sought to go above and beyond to make sure I could get what I needed. They don't have everything you could get at Lowe's, Menard's or Home Depot, but for an Ace Hardware or similar store, they have all you would expect and the friendly staff as well. As a matter of fact, I will probably be there again in about 20 minutes!
